Restate · The durable-execution argument at its most technical — a Flink-lineage team insisting that an agent loop needs a log underneath it, not a checkpoint file, and publishing the reasoning rather than the marketing.

Durable execution for agent loops and backends. You write ordinary RPC-style services; Restate runs them on a log, so every step is journalled and a process that dies mid-way resumes exactly where it stopped rather than replaying side effects. Their pitch against the alternative is specific and argued in public — checkpointing an agent is not the same thing as durable execution (/blog/why-checkpointing-is-not-production-grade-durable-execution). Ships as an open-source single binary, a managed cloud, and since July a bring-your-own-cloud deployment.
