MenFem resolved its call that nuclear is the only power source that scales for AI as wrong on 4 November: the new firm power for datacentres is mostly gas. GE Vernova builds the gas turbines, and its order book shows it. Third-quarter 2026 orders were $29.3B, up 96% organically; revenue $12.6B, up 27%; the adjusted EBITDA margin 15.4%, against 8.1% a year earlier. Its backlog reached $197B, and gas-turbine backlog plus slot reservations 122 GW, with at least 130 GW expected by year-end. It raised its 2026 guidance for the second time, to free cash flow of $16–17B, and lifted its buyback authorisation to $20B. Its grid business, the transformers and switchgear every new datacentre needs, has a book-to-bill around 1.4. Conviction is MEDIUM. 58 GW of that 122 GW is still reservations rather than firm orders, and reservations fell this quarter; free cash flow is helped by customer deposits; wind still loses money; and a $9B grid acquisition is pending. The shares fell 9.6% on 4 November on fears that post-election politics will slow the build, which ties this call to MenFem's thesis that power and permission now limit it. BULLISH, conviction MEDIUM, three years. This view was formed by MenFem's research process at Connor's request and adopted by him. The entry is the live pre-market quote on 6 November 2026.

What would prove this wrong · verbatim, as published
The reason for holding this stops being true if the order book shrinks: gas-turbine backlog plus slot reservations falling below 100 GW at any quarter-end. It also stops being true if the earnings turn: GE Vernova cutting its full-year adjusted EBITDA margin guidance, or company orders falling year on year for two consecutive quarters.

The claim
Gas, not nuclear, is taking new datacentre power, and GE Vernova builds the turbines. Bullish; reservations still have to become orders.

GE Vernova: the turbine maker selling the power that is actually being built
Key Points
- Q3 2026 orders $29.3B (+96% organic); revenue $12.6B (+27%); EBITDA margin 15.4%.
- Gas backlog plus reservations 122 GW (64 firm, 58 reserved); ≥130 GW expected by year-end.
- 2026 free cash flow guide raised to $16–17B; buyback authorisation $20B.
- Shares −9.6% on 4 Nov on post-election policy fears.
Bull Case
Reservations convert at the pace guided, gas stays the default for new firm power, and margins keep expanding into 2027.
Bear Case
What I'd have to believe for the other side: this is a capex peak in turbines. Reservations can be dropped, utilities and datacentre developers face political pushback, and a business priced for compounding orders is exposed the moment the build pauses.
Catalysts
Q4 2026 results (early 2027)Earnings
Backlog above $200B and reservations converting to orders against the 130 GW target.
Risk factors
Reservations are not ordersHigh
58 GW of the gas book is reserved, not firm, and reservations fell this quarter.
PolicyMedium
State and federal politics could slow the datacentre build the turbines serve.
Wind and M&AMedium
Wind losses and a $9B acquisition with undisclosed financing.
